What is the Theater Lab?
The Queenda Theatre Lab is an open space for expression, creativity, and experimentation, where theatre becomes a way to explore ourselves, our relationships with others, and the different social roles that shape our identity.
The aim of the lab is to create a space in which we can observe, try out, and express different sides of ourselves, with an emphasis on the process and the collective experience.
The lab is not focused on preparing a final performance, but on experiencing theatre creatively as a space for learning, personal growth, and freedom of expression.
Theme: "Mirror"
The central theme of this year’s Theatre Lab is the “Mirror”.
Who are we when we are alone, and who do we become when others are watching? How much of what we call the “self” is a matter of personal choice, and how much is shaped by our relationships, social expectations, and the roles we take on?
Throughout this year’s cycle, we will explore concepts such as identity, persona, and collective behaviour, looking at the point where the social role meets the self. We will move between “being,” “appearing,” and “becoming,” observing both how we perceive ourselves and the image of ourselves that takes shape through the eyes of others.
What are we going to do?
Taking The Mirror as our starting point, we will work with theatre texts, theories, and a range of artistic stimuli, using them as points of departure for personal exploration, creative expression, and a deeper understanding of human behaviour. Euripides’ The Bacchae will serve as a central reference point, entering into dialogue with other works and materials that we will encounter gradually throughout the year.
Our practical work will include acting techniques, improvisation, movement exercises, voice work, theatre games, and collaborative creative tasks. Through these tools, we will experiment with different forms of expression and develop imagination, communication, and a stronger sense of collaboration within the group.
